Getting Started with Voibe
Voibe is a private dictation app for Mac and Windows. Hold a key, speak, release — and the text appears in whatever app you're using. On a Mac you choose fully on-device transcription (Apple Silicon) or zero-retention cloud with open-source models; on Windows, Voibe runs in zero-retention cloud mode. Either way, your audio is never stored, sold, or used to train AI.

- 1. Hold the hotkey (default: Fn).
- 2. Speak naturally. Voibe listens the entire time the key is pressed.
- 3. Release the key. Voibe transcribes and types the text into your active app.

Voibe runs on all Macs — Intel and Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) — and on Windows, where it uses zero-retention cloud mode. On a Mac, download the disk image and drag Voibe to your Applications folder. On Windows, download the installer and run it.

2. First-time setup
On a Mac, the first launch asks for two macOS permissions — microphone and accessibility. Both are required for dictation to work. On Windows, Voibe asks for microphone access the first time you dictate; there is no accessibility permission to grant.
After that, you pick a hotkey and do a quick test.
3. Pick how you want to dictate
Voibe has two modes. Most people start with Push-to-Talk.
