# Fireflies Pricing: $10 a Month, Until the AI Credits Run Out

> Fireflies Pro is $10 a month on paper. Then come AI credits, lifetime storage caps and 2-hour meetings. Fireflies pricing for every plan, and the real cost.

Fireflies Pro costs $10 a month. That's the headline. What you actually pay depends on a second price list in the help center.

The first list is on Fireflies' pricing page:

- **Free:** $0.
- **Pro:** $18 a month, or $10 a month billed annually ($120 a year).
- **Business:** $29 a month, or $19 annually ($228 a year).
- **Enterprise:** $39 a seat a month, billed annually only ($468 a year).

The second list is AI credits, sold in top-ups from $5 for 50.

Small add-ons like that are how AI tools slip past a budget. Zylo's [2026 SaaS Management Index](https://zylo.com/news/2026-saas-management-index) found spending on AI-native apps up 108% year over year. Those apps get adopted "frequently through employee credit cards and expense reports".

### The three catches

I read Fireflies' pricing page, help center, privacy policy and Terms of Service on October 26, 2026. Three things jumped out:

- **AI features run on credits.** Free and Pro include 20, Business 30 and Enterprise 50. The AI credits guide calls them one-time; the Free plan guide says 20 a month. Daily Digest and Meeting Prep are on by default and spend them.
- **Storage is a lifetime total, not a monthly allowance.** Free holds 400 minutes and Pro 8,000 minutes per seat. Business and Enterprise are unlimited.
- **Free and Pro cut every meeting at 2 hours.** Business allows 3 hours and Enterprise 4.

### The number that doesn't flatter us

**Fireflies Pro annual ($120) is $29 (24.2%) cheaper than Voibe Work ($149 a year).** Voibe Work is the meeting-notes plan of [Voibe](https://www.getvoibe.com), the app we build.

Month to month, Pro is $18 and Voibe Work is $19. So Voibe Work costs $1 (5.6%) more. And Fireflies Free beats both at $0.

Against Business, it flips. Voibe Work is **$79 (34.6%) less than Business annual ($228)** and $319 (68.2%) less than Enterprise ($468).

The bigger difference is where notes end up: Fireflies' cloud, or your own computer with Voibe Work.

## How Much Is Fireflies? Every Plan and Price (2026)

Fireflies sells four plans: Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise. These are US list prices per seat, from its pricing page and plan guides, checked October 26, 2026.

Every plan lists unlimited transcription. Sharing a meeting recap link with someone outside the team is free.

- Audit logs through the API and a super admin role

### Languages and limits worth knowing

- **Languages:** the pricing FAQ says "Currently English is the primarily language that is supported". Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian "and 100+ other languages in beta" follow. Multi-language Mode is a Business feature.
- **API rate limits:** Free gets 30 requests a minute and 500 a day. Pro gets 60 a minute and 5,000 a day. Business pools up to 1,200 a minute, and Enterprise up to 2,400 a minute.
- **Uploads on Free:** up to 100 MB or 150 minutes per file.

### Dictation comes free with every plan

Fireflies Talk is a dictation tool on the desktop app, iPhone and Android. It's included on every plan, Free too.

The Talk page says "Your dictations are stored on your device. Fireflies doesn't keep a copy."

So you don't need a second dictation subscription with Fireflies. I don't count one in the maths below.

## Is Fireflies Free? What the Free Plan Really Includes

**Yes, Fireflies is free, and Free has no time limit.** The pricing page lists it at "$0 … Free forever". You get "Unlimited transcription", "Limited AI summaries", "400 mins of storage" and "20 AI credits".

### "Limited AI summaries" means a handful of credits

Read that line twice. Summaries on Free run on transcription credits, and the Free plan guide ties the number to how you signed up:

- **Website sign-up (the bot):** 3 credits.
- **Chrome extension:** 5 credits.
- **Mobile app, new user:** 10 credits.
- **Mobile app, existing user:** 5 credits.

A credit is spent to "Summarize a meeting transcribed by the Fireflies bot, Chrome extension, or mobile app". Uploads and dialer calls use them too.

The bot keeps going after they run out. The guide says "Auto-join allows unlimited transcriptions on the Free plan".

### The 400-minute storage ceiling

Fireflies' storage guide says storage "reflects the total minutes of meetings you can store—not per month". On Free that's 400 minutes, about 6 hours 40 minutes. Think six one-hour calls with 40 minutes to spare.

Hit the ceiling and the Free guide's advice is to "delete older files to store new ones".

One wrinkle: the pricing page says "400 mins of storage/team". The Free guide says "400 minutes of storage per seat".

### What else Free leaves out

- **Transcript downloads.** The Free guide says "Downloading transcripts requires a paid plan."
- **Meeting video.** Video recording starts on Pro.
- **Long meetings.** Free cuts each meeting at 2 hours.

### Two details that pull in opposite directions

- **The perk:** Fireflies Talk dictation is included at no cost.
- **The one to check:** the Free guide's share settings note says "Non-participants can view transcripts—even without a Fireflies account".

### AI credits on Free: monthly or one-time?

The Free plan guide says "20 AI credits per month"; the AI credits guide calls them one-time. Either way, Free users can't buy add-ons. Run out and you see a paywall, not a charge.

### How Free compares with Voibe Work

**Voibe has no free plan for meeting notes.** Voibe Free ($0 forever) covers dictation only, with limited words on one device. Voibe Work is $19 a month, $149 a year or $399 lifetime.

So if $0 is a hard requirement, Fireflies Free wins. Just plan to delete old meetings once you pass 400 minutes.

## Fireflies AI Credits Explained: What They Pay For and What Top-Ups Cost

**AI credits are Fireflies' second currency.** The good news first. The AI credits guide says "Transcription is not charged in AI credits."

Plain transcripts, summaries built from templates and reprocessing are all free. The extras cost credits.

### What spends AI credits

- AI Skills, plus Magic and keyword soundbites
- Custom summary sections
- Voice Agents, Sales Assist and the Slack Assistant
- CRM autofill for HubSpot and Salesforce
- AskFred on Live Assist
- The Personal Assistant: Daily Digest and Meeting Prep

How far a credit goes isn't fixed. "AI credits are charged per query", and the cost is dynamic. Fireflies publishes no "one credit = one question" rate.

### How many you get

- **Free and Pro:** 20. The Pro guide says "New accounts receive 20 free one-time AI credits upon initial signup."
- **Business:** 30. The Business guide says "30 free, one-time AI credits per seat". The AI credits guide says they're "shared within your team and do not increase with added teammates".
- **Enterprise:** 50, one-time.

Upgrading replaces your credits; it doesn't add to them. Go from Free to Business and you have 30, not 50.

### What top-ups cost

Add-ons are for paid plans only, and "Unused purchased credits do not carry over." Fireflies' Terms add that credits "expire at the end of a Subscription Period and do not roll over". They aren't refundable either.

### What a top-up does to Pro

The smallest top-up changes the Pro maths. With everything on annual billing:

- **Pro + 50 credits a month:** $120 + $48 = $168 a year.
- **Pro + 200 credits a month:** $120 + $192 = $312 a year.

### Two defaults that spend credits for you

Straight from the AI credits guide: **"Daily Digest and Meeting Prep are enabled by default and consume AI credits."**

Don't use them? Switch them off before your 20 credits drain.

### Does Fireflies auto-charge you when credits run out?

Fireflies' own documents disagree:

- **The help center:** when plan credits run out, "Fireflies automatically subscribes you to the lowest AI credits tier ($5/month for 50 credits)". Existing add-on subscribers move up to the next tier. The pause guide says to turn off "Auto upgrade" in Settings → Billing → AI Credits.
- **The Terms of Service** (last updated September 28, 2026), section 7(g): "Auto-Upgrade is off by default and requires your express affirmative consent to enable."

The Terms are the contract. Still, I wouldn't lean on either document. Open Settings → Billing → AI Credits on day one and check the Auto upgrade switch yourself.

## Fireflies' Hidden Costs: Storage Caps, 2-Hour Meetings and Per-Seat Maths

The AI credit gets all the attention. Reading Fireflies' own pages, I count six more costs that don't show on the price tag.

### 1. Storage is a lifetime total, not a monthly allowance

The storage guide is blunt: "Storage reflects the total minutes of meetings you can store—not per month." Pro holds 8,000 minutes per user, about 133 hours.

How fast does Pro fill up?

- **10 hours of meetings a week** (600 minutes): about 13 weeks (8,000 ÷ 600 = 13.3).
- **5 hours a week:** about 27 weeks.

Then you delete old meetings or move to Business, which has unlimited storage. Business annual is $228 a seat. That's $108 a year more than Pro annual ($120), a 90.0% jump.

### 2. Free and Pro stop at 2 hours a meeting

Fireflies' compare table caps each recording at 2 hours on Free and Pro, 3 hours on Business and 4 hours on Enterprise.

So a half-day workshop or a long board meeting needs Enterprise to be captured in one piece. Voibe Work records up to 4 hours per meeting on its one paid plan, with unlimited meetings.

### 3. Every teammate is a seat

The pricing FAQ: "Any teammate you added in your Fireflies workspace would be counted as a seat." For a team of 10 on annual billing:

- **Pro:** 10 × $120 = **$1,200 a year** (monthly: 10 × $216 = $2,160).
- **Business:** 10 × $228 = **$2,280 a year** (monthly: 10 × $348 = $3,480).
- **Enterprise:** 10 × $468 = **$4,680 a year**.

Ten seats of Voibe Work cost $1,490 a year. That's $290 (24.2%) more than Fireflies Pro. It's also $790 (34.6%) less than Business and $3,190 (68.2%) less than Enterprise.

### 4. Upload overage at $0.01 a minute

The storage guide caps uploads at 3,000 minutes per source per month for an individual. Teams multiply that by users, up to 150,000.

"Overage is charged at $0.01/min", so 1,000 extra minutes cost $10.

### 5. The features most teams ask for start at Business

Unlimited storage, Multi-language Mode and conversation intelligence need Business. SSO and SCIM, audit logs, Private Storage, custom data retention and HIPAA need Enterprise. The BAA is available on Enterprise with Private Storage.

### 6. The bot can be turned away

By default, Fireflies captures with a bot that joins the call as a visible participant. Some institutions block it:

- **Case Western Reserve University** blocked third-party AI note-takers "such as Fireflies.ai" on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet from September 12, 2025 ([CWRU announcement](https://case.edu/utech/about/utech-news/learn-about-upcoming-third-party-ai-note-taker-application-block)).
- **UC Riverside** said "Fireflies AI, Spinach AI, and Read AI will be blocked from joining meetings hosted by UCR-based Zoom accounts" from October 10, 2025 ([UCR tech bulletin](https://lists.ucr.edu/pipermail/tech-bulletin/2025-October/000244.html)). - **Morgan State University** followed in June 2026.

Fireflies' desktop app has a bot-free "Take Notes" mode on Mac and Windows that gets around the block. Its trade-off is in the next section.

## Where Your Meetings Go on Each Fireflies Plan

Paying Fireflies more changes how much you can store and who can sign a BAA. It doesn't change where your meetings go.

On every plan, transcripts and summaries sit in Fireflies' cloud for as long as your account is active.

### Training: a strong "no", with one asterisk

The privacy policy says: "We do not use personal information for AI model training and we contractually prohibit our vendors from using this information for their own model training."

The Terms go further. Fireflies "will not use your User Content to train, retrain, fine-tune or otherwise improve any generative artificial intelligence models". That's stronger than most notetakers.

The asterisk sits in the same Terms. Fireflies "may derive usage, statistical, and other data from your User Content and use such derived data for its internal business purposes".

And the security page says "We don't train on it by default", which is softer. I treat the policy as the operative text.

### Zero retention covers Fireflies' vendors, not Fireflies

Fireflies' AI vendors won't store meeting content after processing. Fireflies itself keeps it: "We store personal information associated with your account for as long as your account remains active."

Close the account and it's deleted "within 30 days".

### Take Notes saves no audio, and names no one

The bot-free guide is clear: "Recording without a Fireflies.ai Notetaker (bot) does not save audio or video files."

The trade-off is speaker names. Take Notes labels people "Speaker 1 / Speaker 2". And the transcript and summary still go to Fireflies' cloud.

On consent, Take Notes is stronger than most. All of this is on by default:

- An audio notice about 10 seconds in
- A chat message (Mac only)
- An "AI Taking Notes" camera watermark

### The voiceprint lawsuit

Fireflies faces a proposed class action under Illinois' biometric privacy law (BIPA). The case is _Fricker v. Fireflies.AI Corp._ in the Northern District of Illinois.

It's consolidated with _Martinez v. Fireflies.AI Corp._ ([CourtListener docket](https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/72385478/fricker-v-firefliesai-corp/)). Fireflies' motion to dismiss was fully briefed on August 26, 2026. The docket showed no ruling as of October 26, 2026.

## Is Fireflies Worth It? The 1-, 3- and 4-Year Cost

**I'd call Fireflies Pro worth it at $120 a year if three things are true:**

- Your meetings run under 2 hours.
- You'll stay under 8,000 stored minutes.
- A cloud archive is fine for your calls.

For unlimited summaries, video, "Unlimited integrations" and free dictation, that's a low price.

Business earns its price for sales and customer teams that use conversation intelligence and multi-language meetings. Enterprise is for teams that need SSO, a HIPAA BAA or custom retention.

### Users rate it well

- **iPhone app:** [4.82 out of 5 on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6463164203) from 5,365 ratings.
- **Chrome extension:** [4.6 out of 5 on the Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/fireflies-ai-meeting-note/meimoidfecamngeoanhnpdjjdcefoldn) from 207 ratings and 200,000 users.

Fireflies has no lifetime or one-time plan, so its cost keeps climbing at the annual rate.

Voibe Work's $399 lifetime seat breaks even against Fireflies Pro annual at about 3.3 years ($399 ÷ $120).

Be honest about your horizon. Three years or less, with Pro's limits fitting? Fireflies Pro annual is cheaper by $39.

### Where Fireflies is the better buy

- **You need $0.** Fireflies Free has unlimited transcription. Voibe's free plan covers only limited dictation, not meeting notes.
- **You want a bot to cover calls you skip.** A no-bot tool records only from your computer.
- **You work from your phone.** Take Notes captures phone calls, WhatsApp, Discord and FaceTime, and there are iPhone and Android apps. Voibe has no phone app.
- **Your team lives in the CRM.** CRM autofill and conversation intelligence have no Voibe equivalent.

## Is There a Fireflies Discount, Student Plan or Lifetime Deal?

**Fireflies has no public discount code, no lifetime deal and no student plan on its pricing page.** Your built-in savings are annual billing and, for big teams, a volume quote.

Here's what the pricing page showed on October 26, 2026:

- **Annual billing ("Save up to 44%"):** true on Pro. $216 a year billed monthly drops to $120, a saving of $96 (44.4%). On Business, $348 drops to $228, a saving of $120 (34.5%).
- **Enterprise:** annual only, at $39 a seat a month ($468 a year).
- **Volume:** "If you're buying a plan for more than 50 members, please contact us."
- **Startups:** the site footer links a "Fireflies for Startups" program. I couldn't find its terms on the pricing page, so ask Fireflies directly.
- **Students:** not listed on the pricing page.

The cheapest paid seat is Pro at $10 a month, billed annually.

### How Voibe Work handles it

Voibe Work gives you 7 days of every feature with no credit card and no automatic charge. Then you move to Voibe Free unless you buy.

Paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. A $399 lifetime option is on the page, tagged "Limited time".

## Fireflies Refunds and Cancelling: The 7-Day Rules

Fireflies' refund guide sets tight windows. Here are its terms, checked October 26, 2026:

- **Monthly plans:** a full refund if the plan has been active for 7 days or less **and** you've logged 3 meetings or fewer. Otherwise, the refund is pro-rated.
- **Annual plans:** a full refund if active for 7 days or less **and** 20 meetings or fewer. "Pro-rated refunds are not available on annual plans."
- **AI credits:** non-refundable.
- **Payment method:** the card has to be saved on the account for a refund.

### Cancelling

Fireflies' Terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before your billing period ends. The cancellation takes effect at the period's end. Fireflies must give 30 days' notice of a price change.

Export what you want to keep first. Transcript downloads need a paid plan, and Fireflies deletes account data within 30 days of closing the account.

### The practical upshot

On annual billing, decide in the first week. After day 7 or meeting 21, the year is paid for.

## Fireflies vs Voibe Work: What a Year Costs

**On price alone, Fireflies Pro wins.** Pro annual is $120. Voibe Work is $149, so it costs $29 (24.2%) more. Monthly, it's $1 more.

And one argument I use against other notetakers doesn't work here. Fireflies Talk gives every plan free, unlimited dictation, so bundled dictation doesn't set Voibe Work apart.

### Where Voibe Work costs less
