Transcribe Audio in Claude with Voibe
Claude can transcribe a meeting, an interview or a voice note for you once Voibe is connected. You get every line with who said it and when, plus a summary, in the chat. Nothing to install and no code to write.
This page is for Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork. If you use Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT or VS Code, the setup for each is on the Voibe setup page.

What you need
- A Claude account. Custom connectors work on every plan, in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork.
- An email address. Signing in creates your Voibe account with 15 free minutes. No card, and no API key to copy.
- A recording. mp3, wav, m4a, mp4, flac, ogg or webm, up to 200 MB. Other audio and video files are converted when the audio can be read.
Connect Voibe to Claude
You do this once. Claude keeps the connection and renews it on its own.
- 1. Open Connectors. In Claude on the web, open Customize, then Connectors. In Claude Desktop and Cowork, Customize is in the sidebar.
- 2. Add a custom connector. Click +, choose Add custom connector, name it Voibe and paste https://api.getvoibe.com/mcp. Click Add.
- 3. Sign in to Voibe. Click Connect. A Voibe page opens: sign in with your email, or use a new email to create an account with 15 free minutes. Approve the request.
- 4. Switch it on in a chat. In a chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors, and switch Voibe on.
- 5. Ask Claude to transcribe. Say "Transcribe this recording." Claude gives you an upload link. Open it, drop the file in, and go back to the chat. Claude fetches the transcript and summary when it is ready.
The address to paste
https://api.getvoibe.com/mcp
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings, Connectors. Each person then connects to it from Customize, Connectors.
Ask Claude to transcribe
Talk to Claude normally. These all work.
| You say | You get |
|---|---|
| "Transcribe this recording." | An upload link. Drop the file in, then the transcript and summary. |
| "Summarise it as decisions and owners." | The summary in the shape you asked for. |
| "Who said what, with times?" | Every line with its speaker label and timestamp. |
| "List my transcriptions." | Your recordings, newest first, with their titles. |
| "How many minutes do I have left?" | Your balance. |
Claude cannot read files on your computer, so it hands you a link to a page called Send your audio. Drop the file in, go back to the chat, and ask for the result. Transcription takes a fraction of the recording's length.
Speaker names
Lines are labelled speaker_0, speaker_1 and so on, with no cap on how many. The summary and the title use people's names when the recording does, for example when someone introduces themselves.
What Claude can and cannot do
It can
- Start transcriptions, which use your minutes
- Read your transcripts and summaries
- See how many minutes you have left
It cannot
- See or create your API keys
- Buy minutes or change your billing
- Sign in as you anywhere else
What is said in a recording cannot change what Claude does with your account.
What it costs
The same as the Voibe API. You pay per second of audio, only when a transcription finishes. A 3 minute 24 second recording costs 3 minutes 24 seconds. Failed transcriptions cost nothing.
Every new account starts with 15 free minutes. After that, buy a pack of minutes once; they never expire. Packs start at $10 for 2,000 minutes. See pricing.
Claude spends the minutes of the account you connected. If your Claude offers tool confirmation, keep it on.
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and ChatGPT
The same address works in every app that supports MCP. A coding tool such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex reads the file from your disk and uploads it itself, so there is no upload link. Each app takes one command or one block in its config file.
Removing Voibe from Claude
Open Customize, then Connectors, and remove Voibe. Your account, minutes and transcripts are unaffected.
The access Claude held expires on its own 30 days after it was last used.
Where your recording goes
- 1. The recording goes to Voibe. It is transcribed and then deleted. It is never kept and never used to train models. The transcript and summary stay readable for 24 hours after the job finishes, then they are deleted.
- 2. The transcript goes to Claude. Once it is in the chat, it is part of your conversation, under Anthropic's terms, exactly as if you had pasted it.

Questions
Can Claude transcribe an audio file or a meeting recording?
Yes, with Voibe connected. Add https://api.getvoibe.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, sign in, and ask Claude to transcribe a recording. You get the transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, and a summary, in the chat. Every new Voibe account starts with 15 free minutes.
Does this work in Claude Desktop and Cowork?
Yes. Custom connectors work in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork, on every plan. Claude reaches Voibe from Anthropic's servers, so it works the same on any computer. On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings first.
Why does Claude give me an upload link?
