Languages & dictation settings
Voibe supports dictation in many languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Polish, and Russian. On Mac, you can choose a Primary Language. Manual language selection is not available on Windows yet; it is planned for an upcoming update.
How do I change my dictation language on Mac?
Primary Language controls the language Voibe transcribes in. It is separate from the language of the app menus.
- Open Voibe → Dashboard → Settings on your Mac.
- Find Primary Language and choose the language you want to dictate in.
- Try a short sentence in a text field and check that the output is in the language you selected.
Can I select a language on Windows?
Manual language selection is not available in the Windows app yet. It is on the roadmap for an upcoming update. You are not missing a setting.
If Windows produces text in the wrong language, email hi@getvoibe.com with your app version, the language you spoke, and a short non-sensitive example of the output.
Why is English speech appearing in Spanish or another language?
On Mac, start by checking Primary Language in Voibe → Dashboard → Settings. Set it to the language you are speaking, then test one short sentence. Windows does not yet have this selector; contact support if its output language is wrong.
If the result is still in a different language, send hi@getvoibe.com a short, non-sensitive example of what you said and what appeared. Include your selected language, Mac or Windows version, app version, and whether you used On-Device or Cloud Mode.
How should I switch between languages?
On Mac, select the language you are about to speak before starting a new dictation. If switching languages within one recording produces the wrong output, try separate dictations with the appropriate Primary Language selected. Windows does not yet offer manual language selection.
Use a short test to check your language combination before a longer document. This also helps separate language selection problems from microphone or accuracy problems.
Does the dictation language change the app menus?
Primary Language controls speech recognition. It is not a setting for translating the Voibe interface. You can dictate in a supported language even when the app menus are in English.
Punctuation and numbers in other languages
The spoken punctuation commands documented in our guide are English commands. Support for recognizing a language does not mean the same punctuation command words work in that language.
If numbers appear as words when you need digits, check Primary Language on Mac and review the result before using it. For repeated issues on either platform, send support a non-sensitive spoken example and the output you expected.
Common questions
Does Voibe support Italian and Polish?
Yes. On Mac, choose the language in Primary Language and try a short dictation. Windows supports dictation but does not yet offer a manual language selector; if output in your language is incorrect, contact support with an example.
I can't find my language. What should I do?
On Mac, check the choices in Primary Language in the latest app. If your language is missing, email hi@getvoibe.com with its name and your app version. The Windows language selector is planned for an upcoming update.
