Fixing poor accuracy

The biggest single accuracy win. Internal mics on Apple Silicon Macs are excellent — lossless, beamformed, low-noise — and they sit at a stable distance from your mouth.

AirPods and Bluetooth headsets compress audio aggressively, drop the sample rate, and hop between high-quality and call-quality codecs without warning. That codec switch is often the difference between great and mediocre Voibe results.

Voibe handles ordinary room noise gracefully. Persistent hums, fans, and HVAC are different — they leak phonemes that the model interprets as filler words.

• Move away from desk fans, server fans, and HVAC vents.
• Close the window during traffic noise.
• If you're in a coffee shop, dictate slightly closer to the mic — about 8–12 inches.
• Mute notifications during long dictation — system sounds in your audio also count.

Names, brand terms, internal acronyms, and unusual spellings will mishear consistently unless you tell Voibe about them. Add them to Memory with the spoken form on the left and the correct written form on the right.

• People: "siobhan" → "Siobhán"
• Products and brands: "vibe" → "Voibe", "get" → "Geht"
• Acronyms: "k pi" → "KPI"
• For coding terms specifically: turn on Developer Mode instead — it pulls names from your open project.

The transcription model uses surrounding context to disambiguate homophones and ambiguous words. Single-word dictation gives it nothing to work with; whole-sentence dictation gives it everything.

• Do: "Send the report to the team by Friday."
• Don't: "Send. Report. Team. Friday."
• Speak at conversational pace — don't slow down or over-enunciate. Slowing down actually hurts accuracy because it makes the audio less like the model's training data.
• It's fine to pause and think mid-sentence — Voibe waits for you.

Voibe lets you trade speed for accuracy. The default picks the best model for your Mac's hardware — usually the right call. If you're on a high-end Mac and accuracy still isn't where you want it, manually pick the most accurate model.

4. 4. Test on a sample paragraph. Latency goes up by a few hundred milliseconds; accuracy goes up several points on hard audio.
