Fixing poor accuracy
If Voibe is hearing you but the words are wrong — wrong tense, wrong name, wrong brand spelling, words running together — the problem is almost always one of five things: microphone, environment, vocabulary, model, or how you're speaking.
Work through the checks below and compare results using the same sample sentence.
Use your computer's built-in microphone
The biggest single accuracy win. Internal mics on modern laptops are excellent — lossless, often beamformed, low-noise — and they sit at a stable distance from your mouth. A wired headset is the other reliable choice.
AirPods and Bluetooth headsets compress audio aggressively, drop the sample rate, and hop between high-quality and call-quality codecs without warning. That codec switch is often the difference between great and mediocre Voibe results.

Reduce background noise
Voibe handles ordinary room noise gracefully. Persistent hums, fans, and HVAC are different — they leak phonemes that the model interprets as filler words.
- Move away from desk fans, server fans, and HVAC vents.
- Close the window during traffic noise.
- If you're in a coffee shop, dictate slightly closer to the mic — about 8–12 inches.
- Mute notifications during long dictation — system sounds in your audio also count.
Teach Voibe your vocabulary
Names, brand terms, internal acronyms, and unusual spellings will mishear consistently unless you tell Voibe about them. Add them to Memory with the spoken form on the left and the correct written form on the right.
- People: "siobhan" → "Siobhán"
- Products and brands: "vibe" → "Voibe", "get" → "Geht"
- Acronyms: "k pi" → "KPI"
- For coding terms specifically: turn on Developer Mode instead — it pulls names from your open project.

Speak in full sentences at natural pace
The transcription model uses surrounding context to disambiguate homophones and ambiguous words. Single-word dictation gives it nothing to work with; whole-sentence dictation gives it everything.
- Do: "Send the report to the team by Friday."
- Don't: "Send. Report. Team. Friday."
- Speak at conversational pace — don't slow down or over-enunciate. Slowing down actually hurts accuracy because it makes the audio less like the model's training data.
- It's fine to pause and think mid-sentence — Voibe waits for you.
Try Cloud Mode on an Apple Silicon Mac
On an Apple Silicon Mac, you can choose between on-device and zero-retention cloud transcription. If on-device transcription struggles with your audio, try Cloud Mode and compare the results. Voibe manages the models for you. Your audio is never stored, sold, or used to train AI; in cloud mode it is deleted when transcription completes.
Windows and Intel Macs already use zero-retention cloud transcription. If accuracy is off, focus on microphone choice, background noise, custom vocabulary, and speaking clearly.
- 1. On your Apple Silicon Mac, open Voibe (menu bar › Show Dashboard).
- 2. Open Settings → Dictation Engine.
- 3. Select Cloud. This requires an internet connection.
- 4. Test on a sample paragraph and compare the transcript with your on-device result.
Stack the fixes for a real lift
Combine a clear microphone, a quiet room, Memory entries for frequently misheard terms, and full sentences. On Apple Silicon Macs, compare both dictation engines to find what works best for your voice and environment.
Still wrong?
- On Mac, check Primary Language in Voibe settings. Windows does not yet have a language selector. See language troubleshooting if the output is in the wrong language.
- If words come out completely scrambled, the issue may be no audio or partial audio capture — see No Audio Detected.

Language, names, and numbers
Why is English speech being transcribed in another language?
On Mac, check Primary Language in Voibe → Dashboard → Settings and select the language you are speaking. Windows does not yet offer manual selection. If the output language is still wrong, send support a short non-sensitive example and your app version.
