Getting Started with Voibe
Voibe is a private, on-device dictation app for Mac. Hold a key, speak, release β and the text appears in whatever app you're using. No cloud, no waiting, no uploads.
This page gets you from zero to dictating in under a minute.
Hold. Speak. Release.
That's the whole app. Three steps, one key.
- 1. Hold the hotkey (default: Fn).
- 2. Speak naturally. Voibe listens the entire time the key is pressed.
- 3. Release the key. Voibe transcribes and types the text into your active app.
1. Download Voibe
Voibe runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4). Download the latest version and drag it to your Applications folder.

2. First-time setup
When you first launch Voibe, it will ask for two macOS permissions β microphone and accessibility. Both are required for dictation to work.
After that, you pick a hotkey and do a quick test.
3. Pick how you want to dictate
Voibe has two modes. Most people start with Push-to-Talk.
Push-to-Talk
Hold a key while speaking. Release to stop. Best for quick bursts and short replies.

Tap to start, tap to stop. Best for longer writing without holding the keyboard.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, these features make Voibe worth keeping open all day:
- Memory β create spoken shortcuts for URLs, emails, and phrases you repeat. Fix words Voibe consistently mishears.
- Dictation Modes β configure Push-to-Talk and Hands-Free hotkeys to match how you work.
