Granola Pricing: The Free Plan Hides Your Notes After 30 Days

Granola pricing, decoded: Basic is $0 but hides notes after 30 days, Business is $14 a month with no annual plan, and Enterprise starts at $35 per user a month.

Granola's pricing fits on a sticky note: Basic is $0, Business is $14 per user per month, and Enterprise starts at $35 per user per month. The fine print is the interesting part: Basic shows only your last 30 days of notes, and Business has no annual plan, so it's $168 a year, every year.

That fine print matters because a $14 tool rarely goes through procurement. Zylo's 2026 SaaS Management Index found spending on AI-native apps up 108% year over year, with those apps adopted "frequently through employee credit cards and expense reports".

The short answer, from Granola's pricing page and billing docs (checked October 10, 2026):

  • Basic: $0. No bot, no daily transcription limit, but only 30 days of visible history, and Slack is the only integration.
  • Business: $14 per user per month, billed monthly only ($168 a year). Unlimited history, integrations and API access.
  • Enterprise: from $35 per user per month ($420 a year at list). Self-serve, billed monthly or annually, with SSO, Salesforce and HIPAA workspaces.

Where does Voibe Work fit? It's the meeting-notes plan of Voibe, the app we build. Month to month, it costs the same $14 as Granola Business. Granola Basic beats it on price: $0 against $140 a year, and Voibe has no free plan, just a 7-day trial with no credit card.

On annual billing, Voibe Work is $140, which is $28 (16.7%) less than Granola Business. The bigger gap is the bundle: Granola Business plus a Wispr Flow Pro dictation subscription is $312 a year. Voibe Work covers both for $140, $172 (55.1%) less.

How we tested

  • Hands-on: we tested Granola, Voibe Work, Otter, Fathom and Wispr Flow ourselves, and the findings here are based on our own tests.
  • Vendor docs: we checked Granola's pricing page, billing and help docs, its startup, student and nonprofit pages, and its security page on October 10, 2026.
  • The maths: we worked out what every Granola plan costs over one and three years, per seat, for a team of 10 and with each discount.
  • The comparison: we set Granola against Voibe Work, Otter, Fathom and Wispr Flow at their list prices, checked the same week.

Enterprise starts at $35 per user per month and is the only plan with annual billing, Salesforce, SSO (for 50+ users) and HIPAA workspaces.

How Much Is Granola? Every Plan and Price (2026)

Granola AI meeting notes website, the bot-free notetaker whose plans are Basic, Business and Enterprise
Granola sells three plans. The free one is real; the paywalls are history, integrations and admin controls.

Granola sells three plans: Basic (free), Business and Enterprise. There's no Pro, Plus or Team tier, and no monthly/annual toggle. Here are the US list prices per user from Granola's pricing page and billing docs, checked October 10, 2026.

PlanPriceBillingPer user per yearGranola's tagline
Basic$0Free$0"Great for a free taste of Granola"
Business$14/user/moMonthly only$168"Great for individuals or small teams"
EnterpriseFrom $35/user/moMonthly or annual$420 at list"Great for larger companies"

What each paid tier adds

  • Business ($14): unlimited meeting history, integrations with Attio, Notion, HubSpot, Affinity and Zapier, API access with webhooks, pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails, a workspace-wide dictionary and model selection in AI chat.
  • Enterprise (from $35): Salesforce and other advanced integrations, SSO for teams with 50+ users, SCIM, HIPAA workspaces, an Audit API, a Legal Holds API, workspace-wide retention and training policies, and dedicated support.

No annual plan on Business

Granola's billing docs are blunt: "Annual billing is available on Enterprise contracts only. โ€ฆ Basic and Business are billed monthly." So Business is $14 ร— 12 = $168 a year, with no discount for committing.

Enterprise is self-serve. Granola says "You can upgrade to Enterprise yourself, the same way you'd upgrade to Business โ€ฆ Talking to our sales team is optional." The pricing page shows a flat $35, while the docs say "from $35".

Billing is per workspace

"Billing is per-workspace. Every member shares the same plan, and you pay one seat per active member." Mixed plans aren't supported, so you can't put three people on Business and leave the rest on Basic.

What every plan shares

  • No bot. You start Granola manually, and it captures your mic and computer audio without joining the call.
  • Audio deleted after transcription. Granola keeps no recordings, so there's no playback on any plan.
  • Free mobile apps. Granola says its iOS, Apple Watch and Android apps "are free to use".
  • Notes in Granola's US cloud on AWS, plus a local cache on your computer that Granola now encrypts (the story is in Granola encrypted notes).

That bot-free capture is also what the pending Granola lawsuit is about. No plan changes it; more on that below.

Is Granola Free? What Basic Includes (and the 30-Day Window)

Yes, Granola is free, and Basic has no time limit. It's $0 per user per month, with "No daily limit" on transcriptions, per Granola's billing docs. Granola calls it "Great for a free taste of Granola".

The limit is memory. Basic shows 30 days of meeting history. Granola says notes older than 30 days "are stored (not deleted), but they aren't accessible in the app until you upgrade."

What Granola Basic gives you

  • Bot-free capture in the Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Apple Watch apps.
  • Unlimited transcription, with no daily cap.
  • Templates, speaker tagging, multi-language support and Recipes, the same as on paid plans.
  • Shared folders and Slack, the only integration on Basic.
  • AI chat across meetings on "Auto only", with no model choice.
  • MCP access to "Personal notes from the last 30 days", with some transcript tools held back for paid plans.

What Basic leaves out

  • Notes older than 30 days, inside the app
  • Integrations beyond Slack (Notion, HubSpot, Zapier and the rest)
  • API keys and webhooks
  • Pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails and a workspace-wide dictionary

The 30-day escape hatch

Granola's CSV export includes "your full note history, including notes older than 30 days that aren't visible in the app on the Basic (free) plan." Each row carries the note's title, summary and transcript.

You get one export per 24 hours, the download link expires after 24 hours, and notes without a summary are left out. It's a backup, not a way to browse old meetings.

How this compares with Voibe Work

Voibe has no free plan. Voibe Work is $14 a month, $140 a year or $349 lifetime, with a 7-day free trial of every feature, no credit card and no automatic charge. If $0 is the requirement, Granola Basic wins.

What Does Granola Lock Behind Business and Enterprise?

Granola's prices are simple. The paywalls are where you find out which plan you actually need:

  • History window: Basic shows 30 days; Business and Enterprise are unlimited.
  • Integrations: Basic gets Slack only. Business adds Attio, Notion, HubSpot, Affinity and Zapier. Salesforce is Enterprise only.
  • API and webhooks: Business and Enterprise. Granola says "You need a Business or Enterprise plan to create API keys."
  • SSO: Enterprise only, and only "for teams with 50+ users". SCIM sits there too.
  • HIPAA workspaces: Enterprise only. Granola says its BAA "currently covers the Granola desktop and laptop apps only."
  • Legal Holds API: Enterprise only. A hold "stops Granola from permanently deleting the notes, transcripts and attachments of the people it covers."
  • Training default: on for Basic and Business (each user opts out), off by default on Enterprise.

Training: the setting your plan decides

Granola's pricing FAQ says it "trains on your anonymized data so we can keep making Granola better." Any user can opt out under Settings โ†’ Preferences โ†’ Data & sharing.

On Business, "each user needs to opt out individually". Only Enterprise workspaces start opted out, and the opt-out covers future training only. The full breakdown is in Is Granola safe?

Admin controls are Enterprise only

  • Retention: any user can auto-delete their own transcripts after 1 day to 1 year (notes stay). A workspace-wide policy is Enterprise only.
  • Telling people you're recording: Granola's meeting-chat message and on-video watermark are opt-in per user on Basic and Business. Only Enterprise admins can enforce them.

Billing gotchas

  • The whole workspace upgrades. Every member shares one plan, so a 10-person workspace on Business is $1,680 a year.
  • Removed members can still be charged. Granola warns: "If the removed person's card is on file, it will continue to be charged."
  • No published refund policy. Granola doesn't publish one; its only refund language says "Tax already charged is not refunded".
  • Cancellation runs to the end of the month. Your plan continues to the end of the current billing cycle, then the workspace moves to Basic.

Where Do Your Meetings Go on Each Granola Plan?

Paying Granola more doesn't move your notes. On every plan, Granola captures without a bot, deletes the audio after transcription, and stores notes and transcripts in its US-hosted AWS cloud, "retained indefinitely" unless you or an admin set a retention policy.

What the plan changes is the training default and who controls retention. Here's Granola next to Otter, Fathom and Voibe Work.

One plan-level wrinkle in AI chat

Business users can pick the model in Granola's chat. Granola's billing docs list "Fable 5 in Chat" as selectable on Business and admin-enabled on Enterprise, and add that it "is not subject to zero data retention", with Anthropic keeping logs for 30 days.

The lawsuit, briefly

Chamberlain v. Granola, Inc. (N.D. Cal., 3:26-cv-07926-EMC), filed July 30, 2026, is a putative class action alleging Granola records meeting participants without their consent. As of October 10, 2026 the docket shows new stipulations and an administrative motion, but no answer or motion to dismiss from Granola.

No plan shifts that risk off you: Granola's security FAQ says "You are responsible for obtaining consent from participants before using Granola." The case is covered in our Granola lawsuit explainer.

Is Granola Worth It? The 3-Year Cost of Each Plan

Granola Basic is worth it for almost anyone who wants bot-free notes and works from the last month of meetings. Business earns its $168 a year if you need older notes in the app, integrations or the API.

Users rate it highly. Granola holds 4.96 out of 5 on the App Store from 14,356 ratings, 4.9 on Google Play from 3.13K reviews and 4.8 on Product Hunt from 56 reviews, all checked October 10, 2026.

What each plan costs over 3 years

Plan1 year3 yearsvs Voibe Work lifetime ($349)
Granola Basic$0$0Voibe Work costs $349 more
Granola Business, nonprofit 50% off$84$252Voibe Work costs $97 (38.5%) more

Granola Enterprise (list)$420$1,260Voibe Work $911 (72.3%) less

Granola has no lifetime plan, so its 3-year cost is three yearly bills. Voibe Work's $349 lifetime seat equals 25 months of Granola Business ($349 รท $14 = 24.9).

With a free startup or student year, Granola stays cheaper than Voibe Work's lifetime seat until year 4, when Business reaches $504 against Voibe's one-time $349.

Where Granola is the better buy

  • You need $0. Basic has no daily transcription cap; Voibe has no free plan.
  • You take notes on your phone. Granola's iOS, Android and Apple Watch apps are free. Voibe has no phone app.
  • You qualify for a deal. Nonprofits pay $84 a year for Business; eligible startups and students get 12 months free.
  • Your notes feed other tools. Business connects to Notion, HubSpot, Attio, Affinity and Zapier, and has an API. Voibe Work gives you one-click copy and PDF export.

Is There a Granola Discount, Student Plan or Free Trial?

Granola has no lifetime deal and no public discount code, but it runs four programs, each with conditions. All four are from Granola's own pages, checked October 10, 2026:

  • Nonprofits: 50% off Business. That's $7 a month, or $84 a year. Registered nonprofits apply and are verified through Goodstack. The discount lasts while you stay eligible, and "Meeting nonprofit criteria does not guarantee approval."
  • Startups: 12 months of Business free. For startups "with fewer than 30 employees at pre-seed or seed funding stage", funded by one of Granola's 500+ approved investors, that have never paid for Granola or used a promo code. Bootstrapped and self-funded startups don't qualify. After the year, standard Business pricing applies.
  • Students: 12 months of Business free. A "limited edition" offer for students enrolled at accredited universities in the US, UK and Canada. You apply with your academic email, and the pack can't move to a personal address.
  • Referrals: 2 months of Business. The person you refer must be new to Granola, sign up with a company email (not Gmail or Outlook.com), and work somewhere without a Granola workspace.

Promo codes are workspace-specific, and Lenny Product Pass codes "apply to new Granola accounts only."

The nonprofit price beats Voibe Work. At $84 a year, discounted Granola Business is $56 less than Voibe Work's $140. If your organization qualifies and you don't need dictation, take it.

Trial, cancellation and refunds

  • Trial: Granola's docs mention "a time-limited trial of Business or Enterprise" and an email before it ends. Granola doesn't publish the trial's length or whether a card is required.
  • After the trial: you subscribe and are charged, or you're moved to Basic.
  • Cancellation: any time. The plan runs to the end of the current billing month, then drops to Basic with no further charge.
  • Refunds: Granola doesn't publish a refund policy or money-back guarantee.

Voibe Work's trial is 7 days of every feature, with no credit card and no automatic charge. If you buy, Voibe adds a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Granola vs Voibe Work: What a Year Costs

Animated bar chart titled What a year of meeting notes costs, per user. First, notes-only bars grow to each tool's annual price: Otter Pro $99.96, Fathom Premium $192, Granola Business $168, Otter Business $239.88, and Voibe Work $140; a chip marks Otter Pro as cheaper than Voibe Work for notes only. Then a Wispr Flow Pro dictation segment of $144 a year stacks onto every competitor bar, taking them to $243.96, $336, $312 and $383.88, while the Voibe Work bar stays at $140 because dictation is included. A closing line reads: Voibe Work is $103.96 (42.6%) less than Otter Pro plus Wispr Flow Pro and $243.88 (63.5%) less than Otter Business plus Wispr Flow Pro. The footer says one plan for notes and dictation, $140 a year, annual per-user prices checked October 8, 2026, no bot joins the call.
On notes alone, Granola Business costs $28 a year more than Voibe Work. Add a Wispr Flow Pro dictation subscription, and the gap is $172.

Month to month, Granola Business and Voibe Work cost the same: $14. Voibe Work pulls ahead on annual billing, which Granola Business doesn't offer: $140 against $168 is $28 (16.7%) less, and Voibe includes a dictation app.

Two honest caveats. Granola Basic beats both at $0. And on meeting notes alone, Voibe Work costs $40.04 (40.1%) more than Otter Pro at $99.96 a year.

The picture changes if you also pay for dictation, say Wispr Flow Pro at $144 a year on annual billing, per Wispr Flow's pricing page.

Monthly, 3-year and team maths

  • Month to month: $14 against $14, no difference. Against Granola Business plus Wispr Flow Pro on monthly billing ($29), Voibe Work is $15 (51.7%) less.
  • 3 years: Voibe Work lifetime ($349) is $155 (30.8%) less than 3 years of Granola Business ($504) and $587 (62.7%) less than 3 years of Business plus Wispr Flow Pro ($936).
  • Against Enterprise: $140 against $420 a year at list is $280 (66.7%) less; $14 against $35 a month is $21 (60.0%) less. Enterprise does include SSO, Salesforce and HIPAA workspaces.
  • A team of 10, annual: Voibe Work costs $1,400 and Granola Business $1,680, so Voibe is $280 (16.7%) less. Over 3 years, 10 lifetime seats ($3,490) are $1,550 (30.8%) less than Business ($5,040).
  • With a Granola discount: nonprofit Business ($84) is $56 less than Voibe Work. A free startup or student year makes Granola $84 cheaper over 3 years than Voibe Work annual ($336 against $420), and $13 cheaper than lifetime.

What the $140 buys, and what it doesn't

  • Capture with no bot: from your Mac or Windows PC in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Slack huddles or any other meeting app. It also records in-person meetings through your Mac or PC's mic.
  • Zero-retention processing: meeting audio is processed by open-source models on zero-retention cloud providers and deleted as soon as processing completes.
  • Notes on your computer: the transcript and summary are saved on your computer, not on Voibe's servers, and never used to train AI.
  • Tools for the notes: summary templates for each type of meeting, chat with your meetings, and one-click copy and PDF export.
  • Voibe Dictation, included: on Mac and Windows, on-device on Apple Silicon Macs or in the same zero-retention cloud, with a custom Dictionary, Memory shortcuts and Developer Mode for Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf.

Meeting notes need an internet connection. At the start of each recording, Voibe reminds you to tell everyone you're taking notes; following recording-consent rules is your responsibility.

Teams of 10 or more can ask about Voibe Enterprise, which adds team admin, central billing and a BAA available on request.

What Voibe Work doesn't have: a free plan, a phone app, or Notion and HubSpot integrations. If those matter more than where your notes live, Granola is the better fit.

The launch details are in Voibe Work: meeting notes with no bot, and the bot-free field is ranked in best no-bot meeting note takers.

Which Granola Plan Should You Pick?

Your Granola plan comes down to three things: how far back you need your notes, whether you qualify for a deal, and whether a vendor cloud should hold your transcripts. Four questions get you there.

1. Do you need notes older than 30 days inside the app?

  • No โ†’ Granola Basic ($0). No bot, no daily transcription limit, and the CSV export as a backup.
  • Yes โ†’ question 2.

2. Do you qualify for a Granola discount?

  • Registered nonprofit โ†’ Business at 50% off ($7 a month, $84 a year), if Goodstack verifies you.
  • Seed-stage startup or a student in the US, UK or Canada โ†’ 12 months of Business free, then $14 a month.
  • No โ†’ question 3.

3. Do you need SSO, Salesforce, HIPAA workspaces or legal holds?

  • Yes โ†’ Granola Enterprise (from $35 a user a month; SSO needs 50+ users).
  • No โ†’ Granola Business ($14 a month, $168 a year).

4. Should your transcripts sit in a vendor cloud, with training on by default?

  • Fine either way โ†’ stay with the Granola plan above, and turn off training under Settings โ†’ Preferences โ†’ Data & sharing.
  • No: notes on your own computer, and you also dictate โ†’ Voibe Work ($140 a year, $14 a month or $349 lifetime, Mac and Windows). Voibe reminds you to tell everyone you're taking notes; consent rules are yours to follow.
  • No bot and free, nothing else โ†’ see the free picks in Granola alternatives.

Granola Pricing FAQ

Quick answers on Granola's plans, the free plan, discounts and privacy, grouped by theme.

Plans and prices

How much is Granola per month? Granola Business is $14 per user per month, and Enterprise starts at $35 per user per month, per Granola's pricing page and billing docs checked October 10, 2026. Granola Basic is free.

Business is billed monthly only, so a year costs $168 per user. Granola's mobile apps are free on every plan.

Does Granola have an annual plan? Only on Enterprise. Granola's billing docs say "Annual billing is available on Enterprise contracts only" and that Basic and Business are billed monthly. So Granola Business costs $168 a year with no annual discount.

How much is Granola Enterprise? Granola's pricing page lists Enterprise at $35 per user per month, and its billing docs say "from $35", which is $420 a user a year at list. You can upgrade yourself; talking to sales is optional.

Enterprise is billed monthly or annually and adds Salesforce, SSO for teams with 50+ users, SCIM, HIPAA workspaces and a Legal Holds API.

What does Granola Business include that Basic doesn't? Unlimited meeting history (Basic shows 30 days), integrations with Attio, Notion, HubSpot, Affinity and Zapier (Basic has Slack only), API keys and webhooks, pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails, a workspace-wide dictionary and model selection in AI chat.

Free plan, trial and billing

Is Granola free? Yes. Granola Basic is $0 with no time limit and no daily transcription limit, and it captures meetings without a bot. The catch: the app shows only your last 30 days of notes.

Older notes are stored, not deleted, but locked until you upgrade. Granola's CSV export still includes your full history.

Does Granola have a free trial or refunds? Granola's docs mention "a time-limited trial of Business or Enterprise" and an email before it ends, after which you subscribe or move to Basic. Granola doesn't publish the trial's length or whether a card is required.

Granola doesn't publish a refund policy or money-back guarantee either.

What happens to my notes if I cancel Granola Business? Your plan runs to the end of the current billing cycle, then the workspace moves to Basic with no further charge. Notes older than 30 days stay stored but locked in the app; the CSV export still includes them.

Discounts

Does Granola have a student or startup discount? Yes, both are 12 months of Granola Business free. The student offer is "limited edition" and open to students at accredited universities in the US, UK and Canada, using an academic email.

The startup offer is for pre-seed or seed startups under 30 employees, backed by one of Granola's 500+ approved investors, that have never paid for Granola. After the year, standard Business pricing applies.

Does Granola offer a nonprofit discount? Yes. Registered nonprofits can apply for 50% off Business, verified through Goodstack, which works out to $7 a month or $84 a year. Approval isn't guaranteed.

At $84 a year, that's $56 less than Voibe Work's $140. Granola also gives referred new users 2 months of Business if they sign up with a company email.

Privacy and alternatives

Does paying for Granola stop it training on my notes? Not on Business. Granola trains on anonymized data by default on Basic and Business, and each user has to opt out in Settings โ†’ Preferences โ†’ Data & sharing. Only Enterprise workspaces start opted out.

The opt-out covers future training only. Details are in our Is Granola safe? breakdown.

Is Granola cheaper than Voibe Work? Granola Basic is: it's $0, and Voibe has no free plan (just a 7-day trial with no credit card). Month to month, Granola Business and Voibe Work both cost $14.

On annual billing Voibe Work is $140, $28 (16.7%) less than Granola Business's $168, and it includes dictation. Granola Business plus Wispr Flow Pro is $312 a year, $172 (55.1%) more than Voibe Work.

Is Granola cheaper than Otter or Fathom? Granola Business ($168 a year) costs $68.04 more than Otter Pro on annual billing ($99.96) and $24 less than Fathom Premium on annual billing ($192). All three have free plans.

Granola's free plan limits history to 30 days rather than minutes or AI summaries.

Final Verdict: Is Granola's Pricing Fair in 2026?

Granola's free plan is one of the better deals in meeting notes, and Business is fairly priced at $14 a month. Bot-free capture with no daily transcription limit for $0 is hard to argue with.

The 30-day window is a fair line to draw, especially since the CSV export still carries your full history. And the nonprofit, startup and student offers are real money.

The details are where it slips:

  • No annual plan on Business, so you pay $168 a year with no discount for committing.
  • Training is on by default on Basic and Business, and every user has to opt out alone.
  • No published refund policy and no published trial length.

And on every plan, your notes and transcripts live in Granola's US cloud until you or an admin delete them.

If that last part matters for your calls, look at Voibe Work. It's $140 a year: $28 (16.7%) less than Granola Business, and $172 (55.1%) less than Granola Business plus a Wispr Flow Pro dictation subscription.

No bot joins, the audio is deleted after processing, and your notes are saved on your computer. Voibe reminds you to tell everyone you're taking notes; recording-consent rules are yours to follow.
